DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

As and extension of the accounting department my job as Advertising Billing Specialist was to evaluate the quality of the production orders versus the final ad placed in the publication and complete the invoicing process. I acted more as a Data Analyst / Internal auditor as it relates to ad sales/invoicing for 15 bi-monthly publications with an average of 1000 advertisements for each publication, which amount to an average 15,000 ads over a period of 2 months. Upon evaluating and assessing the validity and reliability of data, a discrepancy report was created and submitted to management. The average total amount of discrepancies came to $43,000 on a bi-monthly basis, accounting for $258,000 gain of possible lost revenue from sales and bookkeeping errors.
